Summary

The minstrel boy was a patriotic young man. He went to fight with the enemy to defend his homeland. He used to sing national songs with his harp. He tore the chords of his harp because he did not want it to be touched by the enemy. His songs were for the free people. He hated slavery. He died defending his homeland as he could not live in slavery. Brave people prefer to die in the defence of their homeland than to live in slavery.

Central Idea

Brave and patriotic people defend their homeland. Such people hate slavery. They prefer to die to maintain their freedom than to live in slavery.
