Nigeria is the largest country in west Africa. A Nigerian village consists of a dozen to about three dozen huts. Formerly a hut had only a single room, now it has two or more rooms. Close to the farmer’s dwelling is a patch of land for growing food crops. Women tend the food crops. Men tend the cash crops. Their cash crops are oil palms and cocoa trees. The food crops are plantains, potatoes, yams, groundnuts and pepper. Farmers are not able to keep cattle because of a fly whose sting kills the cattle. However they keep a goat for milk and poultry for eggs.
